Good Work Deserves More Attention

We spend a lot of time talking about what's going wrong. Funding cuts, struggling cultural organisations, disappearing community spaces, inequality in sport, environmental challenges. The list goes on.

And rightly so. These are real problems that need attention, investment and action.

But sometimes I wonder whether we're so focused on the problems that we're overlooking some of the brilliant things people are doing about them.

Across the country, there are organisations creating opportunities, bringing people together, making activities more accessible, restoring nature and finding new ways to make a difference. Some have established reputations and significant backing. Others are operating with tiny teams, limited resources and an enormous amount of determination.

And a lot of them deserve a much bigger platform.

Good work isn't always the loudest

Through my work, I spend a lot of time with organisations trying to build something meaningful, often while navigating some pretty difficult commercial and operational realities.

What's always struck me is how much ambition exists in these organisations, and how often the people behind them are so focused on delivering the work that they have little time or resource to tell the world about it.

Of course, visibility doesn't solve everything. It doesn't replace funding, fix an unsustainable business model or make the challenges of running an organisation disappear.

But it can create opportunities.

A new audience, a useful connection, a potential partner, someone willing to volunteer or simply more people understanding why the work matters.

And I think there's value in celebrating good things for their own sake, too.

Worth Shouting About

That's the thinking behind Worth Shouting About, a monthly series from Glass Half Full Projects.

Every month, I champion four organisations doing brilliant things across culture and creativity, community and social impact, sport and participation, and environment and nature.

It's not an awards scheme, a ranking or a list of the biggest and best-funded organisations.

It's a chance to share interesting ideas, celebrate the people behind them and introduce more people to work they might otherwise never discover.

Some organisations are ones I've come across through my work. Others are recommendations or completely new discoveries.

What connects them is that they're doing something I think is worth paying attention to.

I'd love Worth Shouting About to introduce people to organisations they end up following, supporting, collaborating with or getting involved in.

Because the more we share the good things happening around us, the more opportunities we create for those things to grow.

Worth Shouting About is published monthly on LinkedIn. Subscribe to discover four organisations worth getting behind each month.

And if you know an organisation doing something brilliant, I'd love to hear about them.

There's a lot of good happening out there. Let's make sure more people know about it.
